The Different Phases of Skin Aging

The Different Phases of Skin Aging

Posted by Connor Hergott on

Growing older is accompanied by skin aging. Growing old gracefully seems like an art. But this in itself is not so bad... Use our schedules to determine which phase of skin aging your skin is in and discover which products suit you best in each phase of your life.

Skin aging is caused by (a combination of) different factors. The sun, free radicals and nutrition, among other things, influence the process. Skin aging actually starts from the age of 20, but only becomes visible between the ages of 35 and 40. The speed and extent to which the skin ages is partly determined by hereditary and partly by external factors. Your lifestyle also plays an important role in skin aging.

Fortunately, you also have an influence on slowing down this process. You do this by protecting your skin daily against UV radiation, IR**, blue light** radiation and of course by using the right products during your skincare routine. LOOkX is happy to help you.
** radiation from your heating, laptop, telephone, and television.

How does normal skin aging occur?
Your skin experiences both invisible and visible skin aging. In the tables we have indicated roughly which phases you can expect.

Intrinsic skin aging (invisible)
Intrinsic skin aging is the decline in form and function as a result of changes recorded in the genes. These changes are inevitable. So this is biological aging that is pre-programmed.

Age
18 Decrease in hyaluronic acid production.
25 Cell division slows down slightly.
35 Decrease in elasticity and cell renewal processes, among other things.
45 Decrease in collagen production, among other things.
55 Hormone disturbances
Insufficient repair work.
Chronic inflammation.
65+ Fat loss in hypodermis (subcutaneous connective tissue).

Sebum production decreases.

Extrinsic skin aging (visible)

Extrinsic skin aging is caused by years of cumulative, impacting changes as a result of environmental factors. The skin forms the boundary with the outside world and is exposed to environmental factors more than other organs. The skin is more sensitive to extrinsic aging than to intrinsic aging. The most important factor is the influence of UV rays on our skin.

Late teenage years
It is important to start using a good moisturizing product at a young age so that the formation of fine lines can be delayed. Use the LOOkX Moisture daycream as day and night care from a young age.

People in their twenties
Around the age of 25, the first signs of aging can become visible. To slow down these processes in time, you can start using pre anti-aging products in your mid-twenties. The LOOkX Youth defense cream trains your skin cells to remain active for as long as possible and to respond young.

In your thirties
This is a good age to start using serums, ampoules or masks (if you are not already using them). A serum is an ideal product to activate cell renewal and prevent the formation of discolouration on the skin. Use the LOOkX Youth defense serum every evening under your night cream for ultimate protection of the youthfulness of your skin. In your 40s to late 50s Roughness, dryness, hyperpigmentation and the risk of skin infection may increase. A decrease in blood vessel development can make the skin less radiant. LOOkX Time stop and LOOkX Retinol2ndG products provide firmer and beautifully radiant skin. 60+ The skin now mainly needs repair. The LOOkX Retinol2ndG products focus on repairing and repairing damage to the skin.
